Mental Health Awareness Month

This month is Mental Health Awareness Month and I wanted to share with you the benefits of connections with others.  When we spend time with friend and family we feel a sense of belonging and it is one of the many ways to boost mental health (for both yourself and the person you're spending time with;  win-win!).

Here are some of the benefits of connecting with others:

  1. Reduces stress and anxiety: When we talk to someone we trust, we feel better and more relaxed, and it can also help us put our problems into perspective.

  2. Improves mood: Laughing and joking with friends and family can release endorphins, which are the body's natural mood enhancers. This can help us feel happier and more positive.

  3. Increases self-esteem: When we feel connected to others, we feel more confident and secure in ourselves. This can lead to increased self-esteem and self-worth, which can have a positive impact on our mental health.

  4. Builds social support: When we have a network of people we can rely on, we feel more supported and less alone.

  5. Provides a sense of purpose: When we spend time with loved ones or engage in activities with others, we feel a sense of meaning and fulfillment.

It's time to arrange that coffee date, walk in the woods, talk on the phone or weekend away; you'll both feel the benefits.
